Thousands of iPhone and iPad users reported apps crashing without installing a new app version on September 28, 2026. The problem was not a broad Apple software failure. Instead, a Google Firebase bug affecting Google Analytics for Firebase on iOS<\/strong> caused some apps to crash after receiving incorrectly formatted information from Google’s servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unusual part was that developers had not changed their apps. Existing applications suddenly began crashing because of data delivered to an already-installed Firebase Analytics SDK.
